Her Holiness Shinso Ito and Head Priests from the Amarapura and Ramanna Schools of Sri Lankan Buddhism Celebrate 25 Years of Friendship at the Shinnyo-en Ogen Center

The 98- year-old Most Venerable Davuldena Gnanissara Thera, Head Priest of the Amarapura School of Theravadan Buddhism and the 92-year-old Most Venerable Napana Premasiri Thero, Head Priest of the Ramanna School of Theravadan Buddhsm, participated with Her Holiness Shinso Ito, Head Priest of Shinnyo-en, in conducting a service at Shinnyo-en's Ogen Center in Tokyo, "The Feast of Compassion and Welcoming of Venerable Priests from Sri Lanka in Friendship."

The visit of the Sri Lankan Buddhist leaders was organized in conjunction with the commemoration of the Sri Lankan diplomatic mission in Japan and to acknowledge the on-going, 25-year support by Shinnyo-en of a nursery school in Sri Lanka.

The Most Venerable Davudena Gnanissar Thera said, "Your Holiness, I quite agree with your firm belief that making a contribution does not only mean donating one's time or money, it also means to live actively amongst others. It is to be engaged with the surrounding community, to become aware that there are things we can do."
