From March 24 to May 13, 2018 the Kiyosato Museum of Photographic Art (K*MoPA) is organizing an exhibition “Beginnnings. Forever.-2018-“ at the Tokyo Photographic Art Museum. Sponsored by Shinnyo-en, this exhibition will also be travelling to Taiwan to be shown at the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts in Taichun, from June 23 to September 23, 2018. In exchange, their exhibition “Looking Back - Taiwanese Photographers' Island Gazes 1970s-1990s” will be shown at K*MoPA from July 7 to December 2, 2018.

Shinnyo-en opened the Kiyosato Museum of Photographic Arts in Yamanashi Prefecture in 1995 for the advancement of photography in addition to the nurturing of young talent. In 2004, the museum was awarded a prize by the Photographic Society of Japan in recognition of its cultural promotion efforts.

Currently, K*MoPA is accepting annual submissions by professional and amateur photographers, aged 35 or below, for assessment in the areas of technical skill and cultural heritage. The work can range from classic to modern.

Also, the museum is establishing and operating a number of events including photo workshops, nature observation classes, and charity shows.

In his message on the occasion of the opening of the museum, Director Eikoh HOSOE stated: “We offer a place to exhibit all works that celebrate a boundless sympathy with all forms of life. These include objective documentaries as well as forms of expression that emphasize the photographer’s inner subjectivity. Subjects range from human beings to nature in all of its aspects. Regardless of the type of subject and technique, and whether the medium is silver chloride or electronic, we open our doors to photographs that express a love of life.”
