Shinnyo-en Supports Recovery Efforts from Typhoon Hagibis

On the 12th of this month the Japanese archipelago was hit by the largest and strongest typhoon in the history of meteorological records in the country. Record-setting torrential rains and extreme winds caused floodings, landslides and other casualties in many regions and the number of reported victims is still increasing.  MORE

“Reconnecting to Sacred Earth”, in honor of the United Nations International Day of Peace

On September 19th, The Shinnyo Center for Meditation and Well-being in New York City, in partnership with the Global Peace Initiative of Women, hosted a dialogue entitled, “Reconnecting to Sacred Earth”, in honor of the United Nations International Day of Peace. The event drew upon the large number of people who were participating in the various climate change related events preceding and during Climate Week, the week of September 23rd.  The United Nations had organized a separate youth climate conference on September 21-23, and a number of those young ecologists from around the world joined the Shinnyo Center event.   MORE

Her Holiness Shinso Ito Delivers Address at 20th Anniversary of Shinnyo Lantern Floating Hawaii

At the 20th anniversary of Shinnyo Lantern Floating Hawaii on Memorial Day, thousands of lanterns were released on the ocean from the shores of Oahu, in honor of loved ones and fallen service members. The illuminated paper lanterns carried the messages of hope and love from the nearly 50,000 people in attendance and a worldwide audience through a live internet broadcast. MORE
