
Sanctuaries Around the World
Shinnyo-en temples and centers are sacred space created to support practitioners training. One way to look at a Buddhist temple, and Buddhism itself, is as a refuge where a practitioner can recharge her or his spiritual batteries. The temple and all that transpires there allows practitioners to reconnect with the expansive goodness of their buddha nature. As such, the temple is considered a "sacred" space.
Rituals and ceremonies (usually referred to as "services") are mainly held within the sacred grounds of a Shinnyo-en temples and centers. They also feature dharma talks by experienced Buddhist teachers that illuminate many of the complex issues of practice in today's world, Shinnyo Buddhism values tradition, but at the same time, what we learn in the temple is meant to be applied in society.
There are many different services performed at Shinnyo temples and training centers, which vary according to the time of the month or year.
