Shinnyo-en Members throughout the World Observe the Anniversary of the Passing of the Founder, Shinjo Ito

Shinnyo-en members from Japan, Thailand, and India AT THE Ogen Center services offered lit candles in remembrance of the teaching from the Nirvana Sutra that says, “A lit candle burns away with each passing moment, yet within those moments it dispels the darkness.”

Shinnyo’en’s founder, Shinjo Ito, is particularly remembered each year at this time for his dedication to helping people find their happiness. His wish to offer help however he could to all people extends through Shinnyo-en today, and the symbolic lighting of candles is a constant pledge of Shinnyo practice.
