What Is Shinnyo-En?
Shinnyo-en is a Buddhist denomination originally established in Japan. It is, first and foremost, a place for Buddhist training, in which all people regardless of age, gender, nationality, or religious background can cultivate their innate buddha nature, the kernel of enlightenment existing in all beings.
Her Holiness Shinso Ito
Shinnyo-en is led by Her Holiness Shinso Ito. She is one of the few women to become a Buddhist master and attain the highest priestly rank of daisojo.
Sesshin Meditation
Sesshin, which means "to touch the essence" in Japanese, is Shinnyo-en's meditative training to help each individual nurture their buddha nature.
Lantern Floating Hawai'i
The 15th annual Lantern Floating Hawaii will take place this year on Memorial Day, May 27, 2013 with more than 5,000 candle-lit lanterns bearing remembrances and prayers.
